St. Charles Cemetery, Luling, Louisiana - Originally established in April 1965 by private owners, it became a Catholic Cemetery in 1970. The St. Charles Mausoleum was constructed in 1963 by the Acme Marble & Granite Co., as the first large mausoleum within the cemetery. The Mausoleum of the Crucifixion followed in 1972, once the cemetery was acquired by New Orleans Catholic Cemeteries, under the direction of Rev. Msgr. Raymond A. Wegmann. Holy Savior Chapel Mausoleum was constructed in 1988 by Msgr. Wegmann and Frank G. Rome, then Executive Director of New Orleans Catholic Cemeteries. The Holy Savior Chapel Mausoleum was extended in 1999 under the direction of Michael D. Boudreaux and was designed and constructed by the Acme Mausoleum Corporation of New Orleans. It was extended yet again in 2009 by Director Jody C. Rome in order to accomodate the needs of those seeking a graceful and dignified burial within a sacred space.
