In all, the thirteen New Orleans Catholic Cemeteries total more than 107 acres of sacred ground, much of it studded with historic, above-ground vaults and tombs that are counted among New Orleans' most iconic architectural features. Our History

Archbishop Philip Matthew Hannan, established the Office of Catholic Cemeteries in 1966 to manage the Ministry of the New Orleans Catholic Cemeteries, whose Golden Jubilee was on June 29, 2016. Prior to that time, cemeteries were owned and operated by individual parishes or organizations.
