On March 1, 2015, a new policy was enacted for all tourists and visitors to enter St. Louis Cemetery #1 with a licensed tour guide registered with our office. Please help keep our historic cemetery clean and do not mark on the centuries old tombs.
See below for a list of registered tour guides to contact. There are also available tour guides at the front gate daily to assist with tours at the top of the hour.
We require an annual signed application with fee for tour operators. All payments will be made through our office, 1000 Howard Avenue, Suite 500. For application or to schedule an appointment, please email email@example.com or call 504-596-3050, ext. #1. ** By appointment only.
Funding will provide full time staff during the day, more security at night, and preservation of St. Louis Cemeteries #1 & #2.
The exterior brick walls of St. Louis Cemetery #1 were restored in 2015 for $500,000; this project stabilized the historic walls by pumping new mortar into the brick joints while maintaining the original appearance of the historic walls.
